Parent Teacher Conferences

So this week was Parent-Teacher Conference week at work. Even though it makes for a crazy week of back to back meetings and late nights, I always look forward to the conferences because you get to hear some great stories about the kids we work with from the parents and teachers.

I just had to share this year's best story. This comes courtesy of my friend Mandy - who is also a family consultant - so here goes.

Mandy, the teacher, and a parent are discussing how to help children understand emotions and to how to build empathy for others in children. Mom reports that she has been working really hard at home on what it means to be respectful to others. Mom states last week she told her son that it was disrespectful to rub his feet on his sister's head when she was sitting on the floor in front of him.

So, the next morning as the family is getting ready for the day, the mom reports "I came around the corner and saw him getting dressed in his room and I saw that he had put his underwear on backwards". So she says to him "you have your underwear on backwards - you need to take them off and turn them around so Superman is in the front".
Her son replies "But, Mom it would be disrespectful to put my peter in Superman's face!" :)
Gotta love 3 year-old logic - I mean really how do you argue with that?

Brayden has arrived!

We had a great weekend in KC!
We were able to meet our new nephew Brayden and spend some time with his big brother Alex.
Here are a few pictures of the new arrival and his big brother.
